The scandal involving
the assistant chair of the Computer Sciences
department at UTSA has widened with the
discovery of more controversial material on
State owned equipment.
Among these:
Essays urging
World Revolution. One begins with the
sentence "God f-cking dammit sh*t." The message
also calls for the murder Of BIll Gates.(Now
removed)
The
works of the famous german atheist and philosopher
Friedrich Nietzsche. In German. Two copies. (Now removed)
A regularly
posted marxist newsletter from the
professor's son, who goes by the self-styled
name of "Communist John." (Now
removed)

What do
these things have in common?
For one,
they were all posted on UTSA associate
professor Neal Richard Wagner's official
school website, and touted to his students.
For
another, YOU paid for them.
What do
they have to do with computer science?
Beats me.

As UTSA begins a new
school year, the administration and the
computer professor have been trying to down
play revelations that the campus computers
were illegally used to post an amazing amount
of political and commercial material. (Click for previous

Following
a copyrighted commentary in the San Antonio
Lightning Friday, UTSA VP David Gabler
promised to remove the pages, and to
"look into" the situation.
An
official notice to the Lightning states:
The university has removed
the links in question to this website
since it resides on a university server.
At this time, university officials are
reviewing the situation.

So
far, the University has taken no action,
other than to remove the material.
